Ross Fredrickson’s got game…he is an avid pinball, chess and computer game player. However, when it comes to his responsibilities as a senior engineering project manager at VAA, he does not fool around. With 30+ years in the industry, he focuses on industrial, agricultural and food projects with demonstrated skills in problem solving, planning, multi-disciplinary teams, project estimation, construction, and risk management.

Having worked in engineering for most of his career, Ross has a deep understanding of the needs of contractors and owners in successfully executing projects. In addition, prior to joining VAA, he completed an estimating rotation at one of North America’s largest and most respected engineering and construction organizations, providing him with a unique skillset in estimating work and risk analysis.

Ross’s current role includes managing project scope schedule/budget, communicating transparently across stakeholders, managing change and looking ahead to remove roadblocks to allow teams to work as efficiently as possible. He believes in attacking problems—not people. He has a reputation for keeping a level head and doing what is best long term for VAA and its clients.

Since joining VAA in 2021, Ross’s responsibilities have grown to include mentorship of up-and-coming client lead and project managers, showing them, through example, how to manage projects and teams. As a senior associate, he is a leader among VAA’s associates, taking on company-wide initiatives and helping the firm grow.

Ross feels that his opportunities to travel internationally throughout his career have shaped his outlook and helped him appreciate his life, which includes not only his work but two awesome sons and a 1976 home that he renovated from top to bottom.
