Structural Renovation for Lat14 Asian Eatery
VAA provided structural engineering for the full renovation of Lat14 Asian Eatery, transforming a 1970s former chain restaurant into a modern dining destination inspired by Southeast Asian cuisine. Services included structural modifications to the roof trusses, raising an interior steel beam for an open dining space with exhibition kitchen views, and ensuring code compliance. Exterior upgrades featured new elevations, raised parapets, and the addition of a seasonal patio with a wooden pergola—creating a welcoming atmosphere despite the high-traffic location.

COMPLEX STRUCTURE THAT SITS THREE-QUARTERS OVER WATER
The BOATHOUSE® is an 18,000 SF waterfront restaurant in Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs, designed to evoke turn-of-the-century Floridian lakeside towns. VAA provided steel structural framing for this complex, theme-driven project by Cuningham Group, featuring five interconnected buildings. Using 3D Revit, VAA engineered unique elements including a 38-foot clerestory, a two-story section, a 70-foot tower, a dock bar, and boardwalk areas. This project stands as one of VAA’s most intricate structures under 20,000 SF.
Hollywood Theater
- CONVERTED 14,500 SF HISTORIC THEATER TO MODERN-DAY EVENT SPACE
- REPLACED TIERED THEATER SEATING WITH ELEVATED PLATFORMS DESIGNED TO INCREASE EVENT CAPACITY
- PROVIDED ON-SITE OBSERVATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF EXISTING DAMAGES TO INFORM NECESSARY INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADES
VAA helped revitalize a forgotten landmark, closed nearly four decades, into a postcard-worthy venue.
A relic of the past designed decades ago, the Hollywood Theater’s existing infrastructure had a variety of structural challenges. VAA provided structural solutions to create elevated platforms to increase event capacity. Additionally, VAA opened existing masonry walls by installing new structural lintels, allowing more windows to maximize natural lighting. The original riveted steel roof trusses were upgraded to modern rigging and aerial performance loading.
