Transload Facility

  • DESIGNED A 115,200 SF WAREHOUSE, MANUFACTURING AND OFFICE SPACE ON A 40.18-ACRE SITE
  • ENGINEERING INCLUDED ALL DISCIPLINES WITH VAA PRODUCING APPROXIMATELY 175 DRAWINGS
  • INCLUDED 15,000 LF NEW RAIL W/ACCESS TO 3 MAJOR RAIL COMPANIES
VAA designed a warehouse, office space and rail expansion for this key logistics hub.

VAA’s engineering team designed a 115,000 SF warehouse, manufacturing, and office facility on a 40+ acre site, including 15,000 LF of new rail. The project enables direct truck-to-rail shipping, benefiting businesses within a 150-mile radius. The product required environmental and wetland assessment, as well as the replacement of a major city water main.

Serving rock aggregate and industrial machine components, the site is a key logistics hub. VAA delivered 170+ drawings, including a modern 7-person office and plans for future expansion.

Delivery Station and Parking Structure

  • DESIGNED 200,000 SF PARKING STRUCTURE
  • ADAPTED STRUCTURE FOR A CATEGORY C SEISMIC ZONE
  • ACCOMMODATED HEAVY EV VAN PARKING LOAD
VAA designed a 2-level parking structure atop a fulfillment center capable of withstanding 135 mph winds and able to support heavier than typical parking loads.

VAA was contracted to design a delivery station and a two-level, 200,000 SF parking structure built above a new 130,000 SF fulfillment center on a space-limited site. The structure includes an on-grade EV van loading area and was engineered to withstand 135 mph wind gusts and seismic category C conditions. VAA met these challenges with a post-tension beam and girder system for the heavier loads and deep foundations and special concrete moment frames for lateral stability.

Robotic Sorting Center

  • DESIGNED AN 800,000 SF DISTRIBUTION FACILITY
  • ENGINEERED A 180,000 SF ROBOTICS MEZZANINE
  • APPLIED SITE-SPECIFIC ENGINEERING TO OWNER-PROVIDED CRITERIA
  • COLLABORATED WITH THE DEVELOPER, CONTRACTOR, AND ARCHITECT
VAA provided structural engineering for a new 800,000 SF distribution facility including a 180,000 SF robotics mezzanine.

VAA partnered with a national developer to provide structural design for an 800,000 SF precast-wall, steel-framed distribution facility. Designed to meet site-specific and prototype criteria, the project involved close collaboration with the developer, contractor, and architect. The complex design included a 180,000 SF robotics mezzanine and required extensive coordination to support systems for sorting robots, conveyors, fire protection, and mechanical equipment.

Industrial Center

  • DESIGNED 530,000 SF WAREHOUSE AND MULTI-STORY OFFICE
  • ENGINEERED ISOLATED SUPPORT FOR 18,000 SF X 40 FT AUTOMATED STORAGE AND RETRIEVAL SYSTEM
  • INCORPORATED PROVISIONS TO EXPAND DISTRIBUTION FACILITY BY 200,000 SF
  • ADDED SOLAR ARRAY AND SNOW CATCH PARAPETS TO MINIMIZE TRUCK DOCK SNOW ACCUMULATION
VAA provided structural engineering for the client’s new 530,000 SF distribution warehouse and multi-story office.

VAA designed a 530,000 SF precast-wall, steel-roof distribution warehouse with a multi-story office as part of a 180-acre industrial development’s second phase. The facility features high-density storage, an 18,000 SF automated storage and retrieval system on an isolated slab, and extensive roof-hung conveyors. Designed for future 200,000 SF expansion, it supports global distribution of all products. VAA collaborated closely with the contractor to optimize cost, meet operational needs, and incorporate features like a solar-ready roof and snow catch parapets.
