A senior electrical engineer, Derrick joined VAA in November 2021 and quickly developed a high level of trust with project managers, company leadership and clients alike. He possesses a methodical approach to project design, producing consistent deliverables, while improving the electrical engineering department’s ability to meet budgets and schedules.  

Derrick helps reinforce quality control processes across VAA. He has developed several technical tools to improve solution times and error reduction for internal teams. This unabridged commitment to technical details and safe design extends to his work with our clients. He not only recognizes and communicates risks but also takes proactive steps to provide safety and technical recommendations to the client, even if the issues are outside of a project’s scope.

Prior to joining VAA, Derrick worked in the nuclear power industry for 13 years, with electrical engineering roles at Xcel Energy and Sargent and Lundy.
